My name is Ben Jearum, I am a qualified Counsellor and Supervisor based in Farnborough Hampshire. I began my journey into counselling when I faced my own struggles in life and at that point realised I couldn’t work it out on my own (I did try!). With this realisation I entered counselling and went through my own therapeutic process which led me to a deeper understanding of myself and the struggles I faced. With this newfound knowledge I underwent extensive training to become a qualified counsellor and I now dedicate myself to continuing this learning process and sharing what I have learnt to help others. My counselling work with young people and adults covers many areas including anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, depression, self-image, and relationship problems. I hold an interest in working with Borderline Personality disorder (EUPD).
At the heart of my work I am a person-centred counsellor offering a safe and confidential space free of judgement and criticism. Our work is a collaborative process with the opportunity to explore and examine the struggles you currently face. Having a dedicated time to focus on yourself in an environment that offers insight and understanding can lead to a greater understanding of what stops you feeling your very best. The benefits of counselling can be improved self-esteem, greater confidence, less anxiety reduced feelings of stress and a better relationship with self and others. Not only do these benefits help with your mental health but also create better physical well-being. I currently offer in-person and online counselling to young people and adults. I hold a recognised qualification in Therapeutic Counselling and Clinical Supervision, and I am an accredited member of the NCPS. I undergo regular supervision to maintain a highly robust and ethical service to all my clients.
As a clinical supervisor I have the privilege of working with both trainee and qualified professionals supporting them in their therapeutic journeys. My approach is open, honest, and ethical. I offer one to one supervision and also run Group Supervision for organisations.
I provide Reflective Practice Groups for organisations who want to support the well-being of their members of staff. This process focuses on the emotional well-being of each member and the group as a whole. This can lead to a growth in resilience and a healthier more productive work life. This benefits staff and organisations as a whole.
My work has included running Reflective Practice Groups for designated safeguarding leads, teachers, and support staff in a number of educational settings. My model of working can be adapted to fit organisations in other sectors too.
I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation at a time that suits you. Following this we would engage in a more in depth assessment.
Initial Assessment
Through years of experience I have learnt the value of an initial assessment which is a collaborative effort that enables us to formulate a plan to make sure you are getting the right help and support that you deserve. I will focus purely on you to better understand your presenting issues and your reason for committing to the counselling process. The consultation is the perfect opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have and to express what you need from me and to understand how I can help you.
